I am fairly certain Moshe Feldenkrais never required any of his original students in Israel to join a guild nor pay him fees or royalties. They never signed legal agreements limiting how they would use the work. And he never sued anyone that went their own way.
Do you or anyone that you know have evidence to the contrary? If so, I would like to know about it. Just leave a comment below or send me an email via my contact form.
Later in his life, Feldenkrais did create a certification training and awarded a piece of paper to those who completed it. And yes, he did charge people to get that piece of paper. But I am not aware of him authorizing anyone else to award that piece of paper nor teach using his name. Again - If I am wrong and you have documents that would prove otherwise, please let me know.
cheers!

Well I guess that’s what the whole lawsuit with Baniel was about back in the day. I have some documents related to that which I will scan and send to you as time permits (I think I previously sent you the docket of the case, but not all the boring detailed documents). Maybe you can give them a wider audience.
Have you gotten push back about your Feldenkrais products? I’ve planned to publish resources related to “Feldenkrais” and “the work of Moshe Feldenkrais” but have wanted to keep my separation from the Guild.
I’m so tired of their dysfunction at this point that I would gladly take on some debt in legal services to prove their ridiculousness in court. And if it bankrupts them, so be it…
Hi Mac! Great to see your message. It has been a while. Please send over the documents. And perhaps we can chat about them – perhaps even publicly. But let’s start offline.
I have no problem using and writing statements such as “based on the work of Moshe Feldenkrais” etc. And I am not expecting any pushback. The legal requirements that the Guild has to maintain are to police their own members. My apologies to the Guild Members reading this, but my view is that the FGNA is mortally-wounded after the fight with Anat Baniel and does not have the financial nor psychological/emotional resources to go after anyone.
Peace – Ryan
For a more detailed history, take a look at this article from 2014. It is one of my more lucid and balanced posts on the topic:
