What do Bikram Yoga and Feldenkrais have in common?
Here's one thing: The founder of Bikram Yoga, Bikram Choudhury has many public allegations of sexual harassment and abuse against him but he is still teaching and training yoga teachers in Acapulco, Mexico.
In the Feldenkrais community, there are many allegations of abuse and sexual harassment, against direct students of Moshe Feldenkrais. They too are still teaching in various locations around the world.
But in the Feldenkrais world, there is no public acknowledgment of the allegations other than what you are reading here on this website. That means that a person who wants to study Feldenkrais in a "guild certified" training has no easy way to know that there are allegations of sexual harassment going back to the 1980s. They have no way to protect themselves.
What to do? Is this an important issue for you? Do you believe that women and men should be able to take a Feldenkrais training free from sexual harassment and abuse?
