That about covers it! Joking aside, If you run a business or support a cause, ignore social media marketing at your own peril. It has been estimated that at least 70% of all web surfers use some type of social media.

But what exactly are they doing with social media? People’s use of the media is changing. People who used to only read blogs are now making comments on blogs. Those who used to only comment are now creating their own blogs. People are becoming more active, not less, and the trends show no sign of abatting.

If you are already an avid user of StumbleUpon, Facebook, LinkedIn or [insert your favorite social site here] you may have taken it for granted that it’s something most people are already doing. But don’t. There are millions of people “lurking,” and day by day they are becoming more active. One of them could be your next product evangelist or critic.
